Brussels, Libraries to know


     In Brussels there is a network of French-speaking and Dutch-speaking libraries. Some of them are open to the public and they are also offering digital services. Most of the libraries include in their collection English books as well.

     The most known library in Brussels is the Royal Library of Belgium and it is located at Boulevard de l'Empereur 2 . It provides online services and additional information for the book catalogues, educational conferences and interesting cultural activities are available on-line. There is also an anual subscription for students for 10 euros and the opening hours are from Monday until Friday 9 to 16.45.

     The Central Library for the Brussels Capital Region located at Rue des Riches Claires 24 is housing a collection of works in most of the European languages and documents related to the history of libraries as well. However, it accepts visitors only by appoitment.

     The European Parliament  the Eurolib wich is located at Rue Wiertz 60 in Brussels does not provide services to the general public. However, recently the European Parliament Audiovisual has established the Multimedia Library. A variety of useful EU-related information, articles, videos, conferences and other are available for educational purposes.

     The European Commission Library located also in Brussels at Rue Van Maerlant 18 , can accept outside visitors who have made an appoitment. Recently it has been established the ECLAS . Online research in articles related to the European Union and a variety of other subjects are accessible for everyone who is interested.
